SPARC: Across the Nation
Below are immediate responses and recaps from some of our SPARC leaders. Stay tuned for a recap on the rest of the trips when we all get back from Spring Break.
Education in the Outdoors –
We had so much fun exploring God’s wonderful creation. From riding horses, to fishing and exploring Cedar Creek River, we had a remarkable experience in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. – Jacob Agnew
New Mexico –
From the Great White Sands to the snow-capped Ski Apache mountain to the “bowels of the earth” in Carlsbad Caverns our Extreme SPARC adventure has been glorious. We have seen the truth of Romans 1:20 where the scripture affirms that the evidence of God’s majesty is “clearly seen” in His creation! Last night we stayed in the historic and antique Limpia Hotel in Fort Davis and this afternoon we will experience the universe in a spectacular way at the McDonald Observatory. Tonight’s star-gazing party will be the pinnacle of our adventure!
College Trips/Internships –
The college trips and internship have been a success! I had many great conversations and email exchanges with both parents and students. The students have been responsive and sent pictures form their college visits and intern sites.
Courage on the Battlefield –
Eight BH students participated in the “Courage, Character, & Leadership” course on post at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia. The group also spent a couple of days in Washington where they received a tour of the White House grounds and Executive Office Building from a staff member of the National Security Council. They also were provided with an in-depth tour of the Capitol by Congressman Louie Gohmert.
Mountain Women –
In this course, several female students learned the meaning of outdoor exploration, teamwork, and pushing yourself mentally and physically. The girls hiked, white-water rafted, cooked their own meals, and explored various outdoor wonders.
