Dalton is from Rockwall, Texas and graduated from Dallas Christian in 2013. He attended Eastfield Junior College and played baseball for two years before transferring to The University of Texas at Tyler and finishing his collegiate baseball career in 2017. He received his bachelors degree in Kinesiology from UT Tyler the same year. He joined the coaching staff for UT Tyler in 2018 where the Patriots went on to win the 2018 NCAA DIII National Championship. He coached with UT Tyler baseball for four years and got his masters degree in sport administration from Arkansas State University while coaching at UTT. He also coached baseball in the summers of 2018 & 2019 in the Alaska baseball league which is a top prospect collegiate baseball league. He is married to Haley Smith who is a Certified Surgical Technician at UT Health.
