6th grade students in Mrs. Wallace’s science class learned about earthquakes this week. Students built structures in groups of two to see what would survive earthquake conditions, simulated by quickly removing sandpaper out from under the structure. Many of our students were able to build earthquake-resistant structures.
After studying how energy transfers from potential to kinetic energy in a roller coaster, 5th graders were given the challenge to build one out of sentence strips and tape.
