We are 100 Days Smarter in the 1st Grade!

Geometry Lessons in Kindergarten

Geometry lessons in Kindergarten include learning about 2D and 3D shapes. Students found 3 dimensional shapes at home to sort and share. From necklaces of spheres to Lego rectangular prisms, students learned about shapes from objects found at home.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Students in Mrs. Haugh’s Kindergarten class participated in St. Patrick’s Day learning activities. Graphing with Lucky Charms cereal was a fun way to apply mathematics skills. Mrs. Newsome and Mrs Haugh wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Library lesson included folktale stories from Ireland. Students followed leprechaun footprints to treasure.

How Do You Measure Up?

Kindergarten recently combined a lesson about measurement with President’s Day. Students learned that Abraham Lincoln was 6’4″.  Teachers measured each student next to a paper version of Mr. Lincoln and discovered that they had a lot of growing to do!

Happy 100 Days of School!

Thursday, February 6, marked the 100th day of school at the Brook Hill Lower School. Prekindergarten, kindergarten and first grade students and teachers celebrated the day with educational math activities. Kindergarten students wore capes covered with 100 things. Congratulations to Math Wiz Kids!

Brook Hill Lower School students Karissa, Kayla and Nate Dahn earned first place in their respective grade levels at the Mathnasium of Tyler “TriMathLon” completion.  These Math Wiz Kids earned $100.00 for The Book Hill Lower School! The amount earned was based on the number of correct answers. We are so proud of Karissa, Kayla, and Nate.
