A group of boarding students traveled with Mrs. Albea to Dallas for a sophisticated and fun weekend trip. This summer our boys football team moved all of our boarding students boxes. As a way of thanking the football team for moving their belongings, our students treated the football team to three cakes at lunch!
Kris Mathis, our new Boarding College Guidance Counselor, met with senior boarding students this week to talk about college readiness and the application process. Mr. Mathis will be working closely with these students to help them succeed in the college application process and make wise choices!

Mr. Rhoads took 17 students and his family to the Mequite Rodeo this past weekend. They enjoyed a real Texas rodeo, many for the first time and even had a special box provided by Tres Smith and Cavendar’s. The students saw calf roping, steer roping, and bull riding. It was a good ol’ Texas Saturday night!
Our boarding community celebrated the new year, with new friends, at our annual Luau Party! We had an awesome first week, and are ready for another great year!
On Friday night we celebrated our senior boarding students and their families with a special dessert in the lobby of the American Freedom Museum. We took time to honor each graduate, give them a gift, and write encouraging notes for them. We also enjoyed ice cream, desserts, and coffee!

After dinner on Tuesday, our boarding students had the chance to experience Mexican culture by hitting piñatas in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. For many it was their first time to take a swing, and they loved competing for candy as it fell to the ground.
This past weekend our boarding community took advantage of some local activities in Tyler. Students enjoyed jumping and playing at an indoor trampoline park called iJump.
